Diego Rocha wuchs nicht wie die meisten in einem behüteten Elternhaus in einer sicheren Nachbarschaft mit freundlichen Menschen auf. Sein Leben begann in den Favelas von Sao Paolo, im Südwesten Brasiliens.
Die Favelas sind die Slums, die Elendsviertel Südamerikas. Einen guten Start ins Leben hatte der junge Mann also bei Weitem nicht. Doch bevor es besser werden sollte, fiel er erst einmal noch tiefer. Seine Eltern ließen sich scheiden als er gerade einmal acht Jahre alt war. Bis zu diesem Tag hatten sie gemeinsam als Familie in einem Haus auf dem Kirchengelände gelebt. Doch weil die Kirche sich von der Scheidung seiner Eltern distanzieren wollte, wurde seine Mutter mit ihren zwei Söhnen auf die Straße gesetzt. Nun war sie alleine für die kleine Familie verantwortlich. Ein Teil der Verwandtschaft brachte ihre Missgunst darüber zum Ausdruck. Diego erzählt, dass sie seiner Mutter vorwarfen ihre Kinder in den Favelas groß zu ziehen. Es sei zu gefährlich und die Kinder würden früher oder später mit Drogen in Berührung kommen und keine guten Menschen werden. Da seine Mutter aber nirgendwo anders hin konnte, gab sie weiterhin ihr Bestes und investierte in ihre Söhne.
Wenn Diego von seiner momentan als Putzfrau angestellten Mutter spricht, verbirgt er seine Bewunderung ihr gegenüber nicht. Seine Liebe, seine Bewunderung und sein Dank gegenüber ihr sind deutlich spürbar. Bis heute rechnet er ihr ihre Hingabe hoch an. "Meine Mama ist eine Putzfrau. Aber sie baute sich mehr auf als ich je schaffen werde. Sie baute sich eine Familie auf, ein Haus, Kinder." Diegos Liebe zu seiner Mutter ist bei diesen Worten nicht zu überhören.
Trotz des Einsatzes seiner Mutter, verlief sein Leben auch nach der Scheidung nicht gut. Durch den Rausschmiss der Kirche, kehrte er der Kirche und auch Jesus den Rücken zu. Mit solchen Leuten wollte er nichts zu tun haben.
Gut zehn Jahre später sollte sein Leben sich wiederholt schlagartig ändern. Sichtlich berührt erzählt Diego: "Als ich siebzehn oder achtzehn Jahre alt war, fühlte ich, dass ich etwas in meinem Leben ändern muss. Ich wusste nicht, was es war, aber ich wusste, dass mir etwas zum Leben fehlte. Und dieses Etwas ist Jesus." Schlechte Erfahrungen mit der Kirche ließen ihn auch Jesus meiden. Doch jetzt strahlt sein ganzes Gesicht, wenn er sagt: "Eine Begegnung mit Jesus reicht, um verändert zu werden. Ich brauchte nur eine Begegnung." Weiter erklärt er: "Ich wohnte in der Kirche und hatte es nie erlebt wie es ist mit der Gemeinde zu leben. Doch als ich raus ging, reichte nur eine Begegnung mit Jesus. Und ich liebe das."
Zu dieser Zeit arbeitete der junge Mann im Büro. Dort blieb er auch noch einige Zeit nach seiner Bekehrung (Umkehr vom eigenen Weg zu einem Leben mit Jesus). An diese Zeit erinnert der Brasilianer sich nicht besonders gerne zurück: "Ich habe im Büro gearbeitet. Die Arbeit war nicht gut für mich. Die Leute waren schlecht. Das wirkte sich auch schlecht auf mich aus." Was Diego jedoch noch nicht wusste, war, dass Gott bereits Pläne mit ihm hatte. "Mein Bruder Philipe wurde krank. Also blieb ich zuhause." In dieser Zeit kam ihm wiederholt die Erkenntnis: "Ich muss mein Leben ändern und ich muss mein Umfeld ändern." Also beschloss der Latino kurzerhand eine eigene Marke ins Leben zu rufen, einen Neustart zu wagen. Diese sollte den Namen "King D" tragen.
Mit 240 Reals (umgerechnet 46,15€), die von ihm und teilweise auch seiner Verlobten Camila zusammengetragen wurden, fing er 2017 an T-Shirts zu designen. Die Marke wuchs durch viel Gebet und harte Arbeit stetig weiter. Heute blickt Diego mit Staunen und Dankbarkeit auf die letzten fünf Jahre zurück. "Alles, was ich geschafft habe, war nur Jesus. Ich bin nicht gut. Ohne Jesus bin ich ein schlechter Mensch", stellt der junge Unternehmer klar.
"King D" wächst stetig weiter. Heute helfen zehn bis zwölf Freunde Diego täglich bei der Produktion und dem Vertrieb seiner Produkte. Natürlich entlohnt er sie auch dafür, wobei es Diego wichtig ist zu betonen, dass diese Helfer nicht seine Angestellten, sondern Freunde sind.
Wenn "King D" nur eine weiter Modemarke wäre, durch die der Inhaber an Geld kommen will, dann könnten wir die Geschichte hier beenden (oder hätten sie gar nicht erst anfangen müssen).
Diego Rocha Mission ist Gott sei Dank aber eine andere. "King D ist mehr als eine Marke für mich", verrät der Brasilianer "Es ist mehr als eine Arbeit für mich. Weißt du, es ist wie mein Zeugnis. Gott hat mir ein bisschen anvertraut, mit dem ich jetzt ein Beispiel für die Kinder, Freunde und Menschen sein darf, die von mir hören. [...] Ich kann ohne Worte zu den Menschen reden." Um zu verdeutlichen, was er damit meint, holt er ein T-Shirt hervor, auf dem ein gelber Smiley mit einem breiten Lächeln aufgedruckt ist. "Ich hatte Momente, in denen ich sehr traurig war. In dieser Zeit habe ich ein Lied gehört, wo es heißt You look so much better when you smile (deutsch: Du siehst so viel besser aus, wenn du lächelst.) Dieses Lied sorgte dafür, dass ich mich besser fühlte. Also dachte ich mir: ich werde dazu etwas entwerfen. Daraus entstand dann: the world looks so much better when you smile (deutsch: Die Welt sieht so viel besser aus, wenn du lächelst)."
Sein Anliegen ist es den Hoffnungslosen Hoffnung zu bringen, einen Unterschied zu machen. "Es ist nicht gut in den Favelas zu leben. Es ist gefährlich. Das Leben hier ist nicht gut. [...] Das Leben ist hart, aber [meine Mama brachte mir bei, dass] ich [trotzdem] ein guter Mensch, ein guter Arbeiter, ein guter Freund sein kann", erinnert Diego sich zurück. Seine Mutter gab ihm Hoffnung in einer hoffnungslosen Welt. Diese Hoffnung will er durch seine Arbeit weiter geben und besonders den Menschen in den Favelas weiter geben. "Es gibt eine Menge Favelas in Brasilien. Es gibt auch eine Menge Diegos in Brasilien. Die Menschen müssen von den guten Dingen hören. [...] Ich hoffe, dass es die Leben der Menschen verändert, wenn sie von King D hören." Doch da es Hoffnung ohne Jesus nicht gibt, nutzt Diego seine Marke vor allem für eines: "Ich kann King D nutzten, um das Evangelium, um Jesus weiter zu geben."
Der Brasilianer hat also eine klare Mission, ein klares Ziel. Tag für Tag gibt er sein Bestes, um diesem Ziel näher zu kommen. Lachend gibt er zu: "Ja, ich muss aufstehen und hart arbeiten, aber die Kraft und der Glaube...sogar der Glaube - Jesus half mir sogar mit dem Glauben. Ich dachte mir: Oh, ich weiß nicht. Es ist so anstrengend. Aber Jesus sagte: Mach weiter! Hör nicht auf!"
Diego gibt nicht auf. Er macht weiter und entgegen aller Erwartungen hat der vaterlose Junge aus den Favelas es tatsächlich geschafft sich nicht nur ein Geschäft aufzubauen, sondern auch die Leben von anderen positiv zu beeinflussen.
Reich wird er durch seine Arbeit nicht, aber es reicht zum Leben und um die Miete zu zahlen. Das ist genug für den jungen Mann, der sich nach wie vor bewusst ist, dass das alles ohne Jesus nicht möglich gewesen wäre. "Es liegt nicht an mir. Es liegt nicht an meiner Familie. Es liegt nicht an den Menschen. Es ist einfach ein Wunder. Wenn ich mir jeden Tag anschaue, dann kann ich sehen wie Jesus das alles für mich macht." Die Dankbarkeit in seiner Stimme ist verrät wie sehr ihn diese Tatsache berührt.
Born and raised in the Favelas - Diego Rocha hatte keinen guten Start ins Leben und doch gebraucht Gott den Jungen aus den Slums Brasiliens, um genau dort Hoffnung zu schenken, Leben zu verändern.

Diego Rocha didn't grow up like most in a sheltered home in a safe neighborhood with friendly people. His life began in the favelas of Sao Paolo, in southwestern Brazil.
The favelas are the slums, the shantytowns of South America. So the young man did not have a good start in life by any means. But before things could get better, he first fell even deeper. His parents divorced when he was just eight years old. Until that day, they had lived together as a family in a house on the church grounds. But because the church wanted to distance itself from his parents' divorce, his mother was put out on the street with her two sons. Now she alone was responsible for the small family. Some of the relatives expressed their resentment about this. Diego says that they accused his mother of raising her children in the favelas. It was too dangerous and the children would sooner or later come into contact with drugs and not become good people. But since his mother had nowhere else to go, she continued to do her best and invest in her sons.
When Diego talks about his mother, currently employed as a cleaning lady, he does not hide his admiration towards her. His love, admiration and gratitude towards her are evident. To this day, he credits her for her dedication. "My mom is a cleaning lady. But she built herself more than I will ever manage. She built herself a family, a house, children." Diego's love for his mother cannot be overheard in these words.
Despite his mother's dedication, his life did not go well even after the divorce. By kicking out of the church, he turned his back on the church and also on Jesus. He wanted nothing to do with such people.
A good ten years later, his life was to change abruptly and repeatedly. Visibly touched, Diego recounts: "When I was seventeen or eighteen years old, I felt that I had to change something in my life. I didn't know what it was, but I knew that something was missing from my life. And that something is Jesus." Bad experiences with the church also made him avoid Jesus. But now his whole face beams when he says, "One encounter with Jesus is enough to be changed. I only needed one encounter." He goes on to explain, "I lived in the church and had never experienced what it was like to live with the church. But when I went out, just one encounter with Jesus was enough. And I love that."
At the time, the young man was working in the office. He remained there for some time after his conversion (turning from his own way to a life with Jesus). The Brazilian does not remember this time very fondly: "I worked in the office. The work was not good for me. The people were bad. It affected me badly, too." What Diego didn't yet know, however, was that God already had plans for him. "My brother Philipe got sick. So I stayed at home." During that time, the realization came to him repeatedly, "I need to change my life and I need to change my environment." So the Latino decided without further ado to launch his own brand, to dare a new start. This was to bear the name "King D."
With 240 reals (the equivalent of €46.15) raised by him and, in part, his fiancée Camila, he began designing T-shirts in 2017. The brand continued to grow steadily through a lot of prayer and hard work. Today, Diego looks back on the past five years with wonder and gratitude. "Everything I've accomplished has been just Jesus. I am not good. Without Jesus, I'm a bad person," the young entrepreneur clarifies.
"King D" continues to grow steadily. Today, ten to twelve friends help Diego every day with the production and distribution of his products. Of course, he also pays them for this, although it is important for Diego to emphasize that these helpers are not his employees, but friends.

His concern is to bring hope to the hopeless, to make a difference. "It's not good to live in the favelas. It's dangerous. Life here is not good. [...] Life is hard, but [my mom taught me that] I can [still] be a good person, a good worker, a good friend," Diego recalls. His mother gave him hope in a hopeless world. He wants to pass on that hope through his work, and especially to people in the favelas. "There are a lot of favelas in Brazil. There are also a lot of diegos in Brazil. People need to hear about the good things. [...] I hope that hearing about King D will change people's lives." But since there is no hope without Jesus, Diego uses his brand for one thing: "I can use King D to share the Gospel, to share Jesus."
So the Brazilian has a clear mission, a clear goal. Day after day, he does his best to get closer to that goal. Laughing, he admits, "Yes, I have to get up and work hard, but the strength and the faith...even the faith - Jesus even helped me with the faith. I thought to myself, 'Oh, I don't know. It's so exhausting. But Jesus said, "Keep going! Don't stop!"
Diego doesn't give up. He keeps going and against all expectations, the fatherless boy from the favelas has actually managed not only to build up a business, but also to positively influence the lives of others.
He is not getting rich from his work, but it is enough to live on and pay the rent. That's enough for the young man, who remains aware that none of this would have been possible without Jesus. "It's not up to me. It's not because of my family. It's not because of the people. It's just a miracle. When I look at every day, I can see how Jesus does it all for me." The gratitude in his voice betrays how much this fact touches him.
Born and raised in the favelas - Diego Rocha did not have a good start in life and yet God uses the boy from the slums of Brazil to give hope right there, to change lives.

Diego Rocha não cresceu como a maioria em uma casa abrigada em um bairro seguro com pessoas amigáveis. Sua vida começou nas favelas de São Paulo, no sudoeste do Brasil.
As favelas são as favelas, os bairros de lata da América do Sul. Portanto, o jovem não teve um bom começo na vida por nenhum meio. Mas antes que as coisas melhorassem, ele primeiro caiu ainda mais baixo. Seus pais se divorciaram quando ele tinha apenas oito anos de idade. Até aquele dia, eles haviam vivido juntos como uma família em uma casa no terreno da igreja. Mas como a igreja queria se distanciar do divórcio de seus pais, sua mãe foi colocada na rua com seus dois filhos. Agora ela era a única responsável pela pequena família. Alguns dos parentes expressaram seu ressentimento em relação a isso. Diego diz que eles acusaram sua mãe de criar seus filhos nas favelas. Era muito perigoso e as crianças, mais cedo ou mais tarde, entrariam em contato com drogas e não se tornariam boas pessoas. Mas como sua mãe não tinha para onde ir, ela continuou fazendo o seu melhor e investindo em seus filhos.
Quando Diego fala de sua mãe, atualmente empregada como faxineira, ele não esconde sua admiração por ela. Seu amor, admiração e gratidão para com ela são evidentes. Até hoje, ele a credita por sua dedicação. "Minha mãe é uma faxineira. Mas ela se construiu mais do que eu jamais conseguirei. Ela mesma construiu uma família, uma casa, filhos". O amor de Diego por sua mãe é inconfundível nestas palavras.
Apesar dos esforços de sua mãe, sua vida não correu bem, mesmo após o divórcio. Ao ser expulso da igreja, ele virou suas costas para a igreja e também para Jesus. Ele não queria ter nada a ver com essas pessoas.
Dez anos depois, sua vida foi mudar abrupta e repetidamente. Visivelmente emocionado, Diego conta: "Quando eu tinha dezessete ou dezoito anos, senti que tinha que mudar algo em minha vida. Eu não sabia o que era, mas sabia que algo estava faltando em minha vida. E que alguma coisa é Jesus". Más experiências com a igreja também o fizeram evitar Jesus. Mas agora todo o seu rosto se destaca quando ele diz: "Um encontro com Jesus é suficiente para ser mudado". Eu só precisava de um encontro". Ele continua explicando: "Eu vivia na igreja e nunca havia experimentado o que era viver com a igreja. Mas quando eu saí, apenas um encontro com Jesus foi suficiente. E eu adoro isso".
Naquela época, o jovem estava trabalhando no escritório. Ele permaneceu ali por algum tempo após sua conversão (passando de seu próprio caminho para uma vida com Jesus). O brasileiro não se lembra desta vez com especial carinho: "Trabalhei no escritório. O trabalho não foi bom para mim. O povo era ruim. Isso também teve um mau efeito sobre mim". O que Diego ainda não sabia, entretanto, era que Deus já tinha planos para ele. "Meu irmão Philipe ficou doente. Por isso fiquei em casa". Foi então que a realização chegou até ele repetidamente: "Preciso mudar minha vida e preciso mudar meu ambiente". Assim, o latino decidiu sem mais delongas lançar sua própria marca, para ousar um novo começo. Isto deveria levar o nome de "King D".
Com 240 reais (o equivalente a 46,15 euros) levantados por ele mesmo e em parte por sua noiva Camila, ele começou a desenhar camisetas em 2017. A marca cresceu de forma constante através de muita oração e trabalho duro. Hoje, Diego olha para trás nos últimos cinco anos com admiração e gratidão. "Tudo o que eu consegui fazer foi apenas Jesus. Eu não sou bom. Sem Jesus, eu sou uma pessoa má", esclarece o jovem empresário.
O "King D" continua a crescer de forma constante. Hoje, dez a doze amigos ajudam Diego todos os dias com a produção e distribuição de seus produtos. É claro que ele também os paga por isso, embora seja importante para Diego enfatizar que esses ajudantes não são seus funcionários, mas amigos.
Se "King D" fosse apenas mais uma marca de moda através da qual o proprietário quer ganhar dinheiro, poderíamos terminar a história aqui (ou não teríamos que começá-la em primeiro lugar).
A missão de Diego Rocha, no entanto, felizmente é diferente. O "King D" é mais do que uma marca para mim", revela o brasileiro "É mais do que um trabalho para mim". É como meu testemunho. Deus me confiou um pouco que agora eu posso ser um exemplo para as crianças, amigos e pessoas que ouvem de mim. [...] Posso falar com as pessoas sem palavras". Para ilustrar o que ele quer dizer com isso, ele puxa uma camiseta com um rosto sorriso amarelo com um grande sorriso impresso nela. "Tive momentos em que fiquei muito triste. Durante esse tempo ouvi uma canção chamada You look so much better when you smile. Esta canção é chamada "You look so much better when you smile."
Esta canção me fez sentir melhor. Então pensei: vou projetar algo que combine com isso. Então eu inventei: o mundo parece muito melhor quando você sorri".
Sua preocupação é levar esperança aos desesperados, fazer a diferença. "Não é bom viver nas favelas". É perigoso. A vida aqui não é boa. [...] A vida é difícil, mas [minha mãe me ensinou] eu posso [ainda] ser uma boa pessoa, um bom trabalhador, um bom amigo", lembra Diego. Sua mãe lhe deu esperança em um mundo sem esperança. Ele quer passar essa esperança através de seu trabalho, e especialmente para as pessoas das favelas. "Há muitas favelas no Brasil. Há também muitos diegos no Brasil. As pessoas precisam ouvir sobre as coisas boas. [...] Espero que ouvir falar do "King D" mude a vida das pessoas". Mas como não há esperança sem Jesus, Diego usa sua marca para uma coisa: "Posso usar o "King D" para compartilhar o evangelho, para compartilhar Jesus".
Portanto, o brasileiro tem uma missão clara, um objetivo claro. Dia após dia, ele faz o seu melhor para se aproximar deste objetivo. Rindo, ele admite: "Sim, eu tenho que me levantar e trabalhar duro, mas a força e a fé... até mesmo a fé - Jesus até me ajudou com a fé. Eu pensei para mim mesmo: 'Oh, eu não sei. É tão cansativo. Mas Jesus disse: "Continuem! Não pare"!
Diego não desiste. Ele continua e contra todas as expectativas, o menino sem pai das favelas realmente conseguiu não apenas construir um negócio, mas também influenciar positivamente a vida dos outros.
Ele não está ficando rico com seu trabalho, mas é o suficiente para viver e pagar o aluguel. Isso é suficiente para o jovem, que ainda está consciente de que nada disso teria sido possível sem Jesus. "Não depende de mim. Não é por causa da minha família. Não é por causa do povo. É apenas um milagre. Quando olho todos os dias, posso ver como Jesus faz tudo isso por mim". A gratidão em sua voz trai o quanto este fato o toca.
Nascido e criado nas favelas - Diego Rocha não teve um bom começo de vida e ainda assim Deus usa o menino das favelas do Brasil para dar esperança, para mudar vidas ali mesmo.
